Irwin’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives are also in place to make sure that Irwin’s are doing the best for the local community – in terms of engaging with local people as well as doing the best for the environment.

Irwin’s Bakery including all its employees recognises CSR as a vital part of our activity and is therefore committed to a course of social responsibility for the sustainable development of our business and community.

Irwin’s Bakery recognises the importance of our environment and strives to reduce wastage and carbon footprint through a variety of measures.

Senior management are committed to Nebosh Environment training which introduces your workforce to environmental issues and the role they play in improving organisational environmental performance. 

Within the bakery, we have a waste reduction programme which involves recycling all possible office materials (paper, plastic, printer cartridges) and reusing printed paper which has led to the bakery achieving a zero landfill site.  Our carbon footprint and road miles have been reduced by one million miles and water management including reduction as well as trade effluent compliance. Furthermore, we are a renewable energy site; we switched to gas burning ovens reducing energy consumption by 15% each year.
